Welcome to our “Meet a Monthly Donor” series! This group of Pushing Boundaries “Weight Lifters” have pledged to support PB through a monthly gift that best suits their financial situation. These ongoing gifts allow PB the reassurance that support will arrive consistently throughout the year and help us provide therapy services to the paralysis community through this reliable financial foundation. Learn why Gary gives and please consider joining our “Weight Lifters” crew today.
1. When and how did you first learn about Pushing Boundaries?
I learned about Pushing Boundaries in 2018, when my dear friend Michael LaTour told me about his work with, and passion for, the mission. And it's been such a joy to get to know the people of Pushing Boundaries since that time.
2. What motivated you to begin donating?
I mean, how could I not contribute? Seriously, once I learned of PB's special place in our region to support people living with paralysis and neurological ailments through their amazing therapies, I wanted to offer my personal financial support. PB's doors are open to clients who might not find other avenues available to them, and I offer my support to do what I can to assist.
3. What do you feel are the benefits of being a monthly donor?
As someone who leads a nonprofit organization (Companis), I know how helpful it is for the agency to have some amount of steady monthly donations. I know my support is handled efficiently, and making monthly donations makes me feel good - my support is not conditional on some annual event or appeal. While I enjoy those events, making a monthly commitment is my way of saying I'm with the clients and staff at Pushing Boundaries every day of the year.
4. The exercise floor at PB always has good music playing…what would be one song on your playlist?
Well, I like music that will motivate me through my earbuds. So I'd reach back to Linda Eder's "Something to Believe In" house mix from the late 90's. That's music to which one can reach and exceed goals, and just feel so good.
